Accomplishment

One of the things on my "bucket list" was to read the Bible cover to cover. The King James version that I received for comfirmation is the one I read. It is finished (pat, pat). King James is probably one of the hardest to understand, but it really suprised me how much of it was familiar. I have on loan from Janell a study version with questions and answers and a text that is easier to understand. This one will take longer because of the q's & a's. Each evening depending on how late, how alert, or how tired I am, I read a chapter or more before I go to bed at night.

In the beginning (ok, I plagarized) man (man meaning the human race) lived hundreds of years until God decided that man should live only 120 years. Has anyone in modern times lived that long? I don't think so. There does seem to be a lot more people reaching the century mark, but what is the quality of their lives? Most of them are in nursing homes just waiting to die. They can't get around, don't recognize their families and can't even go to the kitchen and get a dish of ice cream or a cookie if they want it. What kind of impact would a cure for alzheimers have on nursing homes? They could go home to their spouses or to an apartment where they could watch soaps or games shows or the news channel and eat their ice cream and cookies whenever they felt like it. On nice days they could get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature. Especially this time of year when the trees are the most colorful. Coffee or tea with maybe a game of cards or scrabble with friends or quilting at a senior center would also be options.

I really don't know where I am going with this. It is all just rambling on about thoughts of living to be 120. Living to be 120 is not on my bucket list, but "living" until I die is. Have a nice life :).

That is awesome that you read King James. Randy uses King James, but I find it hard to read.

Does this mean then that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have accepted Him into your heart, confessed your sins, and prayed the believers prayer? Christ died for you; accepting Him into your heart as Savior leads to eternal salvation. 1 John is a great chapter to read and understand how we all can have eternal salvation. One day Jesus will come back for His kingdom. Be ready!

We never know when the end is going to happen so I really hope I am ready.

Good job on your personal Bible study - keep it up! You'll never regret spending time on that.

Hi Sue, sorry I missed this one for so long. Really, I am.
I am happy for you in your reading. That is a big item to be on your bucket list. I haven't read it all and so far it isn't on my bucket list. So go, girl, go. Best wishes!

Adi and I visit an assisted living (we are a 'registered' therapy dog team) home twice a month in Conroe (Texas). They have an Alzheimers wing over there, I'd say about 20% of the residents are in that wing.

Every person there just loves Adi. Some don't want to pet or touch her and I don't try to talk them into it. I do say that she doesn't bite and has never bitten.
Then after watching the others love on her a few timidly change their minds. Adi eats it all up.

I lose count of how many people tell me about their dog, or the dog(s) they used to have. Some I hear every time and am knowing what to expect.

We start our visit with a couple who are almost always sitting on the porch. We talk about cars--they have their red 2004 Cadilac parked out front--Louisiana (home), weather, doges, etc. After an hour and a half plus or minus we end up visiting a lady in her room whose kids are in our church. She is 94 I do believe, and very bright and alert. Last time we talked a lot about 'boy space jockey.

Nuff of that, please keep us posted on your reading.

Tammie, if you are still comming here I wish to encourage you to write away on your new blog! You can figure out what you want your blog to do later. That's what I did. And am still trying to figure out some after almost four years now.

The beagle in your profile caught my eye, Adi (read about above) is a beagle. She is on just an awful lot of my blogs.

Cliff Morrow left the second comment I ever had. He said:
"HI Jim, well you've learned how to get readers already. You have to leave messages and they will return the favor. Rachel, above, is one of my favorite blogger friends. There is a lot of garbage out there and it is likely that you'll find the right people by finding someone you like reading and following their commenters ... "

Best wishes,
..
